1921. D. W. Griffith adapts the old stage warhorse Les Deux Orphelines, two sisters separated in Paris on the eve of the Revolution, one of them blind. It builds to a last minute ride to the guillotine that audiences apparently watched standing up.
Lillian and Dorothy Gish play the sisters, the last film the two of them made together. The poster leaves the melodrama alone and simply puts them on a cobbled street in the afternoon light.
